Hi Friends, I've reviewed a lot of newly released, modern CD players and one thing I've noticed is that the sound performance isn't the most important factor for me to consider. What I find to be most important is the feature set or really, just how the CD player works. Most new CD players offered today have the appropriate DAC design to sound fine and almost all new players have digital outputs to add an external DAC should you want to try and improve the sound. (My only advice is if you find a CD or DVD player at a big box store or even thrifting and can't determine the DAC chips used, that might be one to skip, especially if it doesn't have digital outputs.) Today I posted a YouTube video reviewing the SMSL PL20 CD player and even though I can easily recommend it for sound, it has some odd features and quirks that you should understand before buying: So when you're looking for audio gear, how it sounds is always important but don't forget, a piece of gear with an annoying feature will always be...annoying, no matter how great it sounds. Need any CDs or vinyl??? I've been listing a lot of CDs and vinyl for sale in my Discogs store. If you'd be interested in buying a little something musical for your collection, consider checking out the store. I have products ranging from 99 cents to over $300! And free shipping in the US over $50! The money earned from Discogs sales is pumped back into the channel so I can buy more gear to feature. Speaking of gear purchased, I recently bought a vintage TUBE CD player from the late 80s/early 90s by Luxman. I had to wrangle an old belt out of her to work again properly, but so far she's back to normal again. Looking forward to getting this video out in the next couple of weeks! Hope you have a great week and remember, if you reply to this email, it will come directly to me (sometimes to my spam folder but I try to check it often to catch these!). Have a great week, Aaron |

Hi friend, Most of the audio related questions I receive involve buying a DAC. There are so many options now that people get "analysis paralysis" and can't make a confident decision. In today's YouTube video, I try to highlight common mistakes people make when shopping for a DAC with the hopes of helping make the process easier: My most common advice is to give yourself time with each piece of gear before upgrading. If you upgrade too quickly, you'll never know the baseline sound signature of...
Hi friends, In the early 1980s, Sony was a leader, along with Philips, in the design, implementation and release of CDs and CD players. Today, Sony no longer makes CD players. In my new YouTube video, I spend time marveling at Sony's engineering on a player they released in 1986, while also trying to understand why they stopped making players today: I enjoyed making this video and hope you do too. Have a great week! Aaron
Hi friends, First, the Forever Analog YouTube channel passed 50,000 subscribers this weekend. I started this channel as a way to help friends with their audio gear purchases and hitting this kind of milestone is very surreal. I appreciate any of you who subscribe and take time out of your busy day to watch my videos. Speaking of YouTube... I thought it would be fun to compare a vintage CD player with a new model, but make sure it was the same manufacturer. So, I bought two Denon CD players,...
